I have used the NosPart's with great success on black bear the big bodied Maine white tail and even moose.
They hold together, fold back on the partition and give good penetration leaving a permanent wound cavity.
Another good choice would be a "no lead" bullet like a Barnes TSX/TTSX. Hornady also makes an excellent bullet in their GMX line.
I have killed multiple deer and large hogs with the Barnes and they perform excellent if you put them on bone going in. ---- SAWMAN

It’s been mentioned already but Barnes makes a good round. If you’re looking for something for white tail the 130gr would be an excellent choice. It seems a little light but the magic of the monolithic is that holds together and all of that mass will drive deep into the animal through bone and sinew.

I prefer the 168gr TTSX for mule deer and Elk. The BC is a little higher, which helps a little with the longer range shots we have in the west and the bullet weight is sufficient to take the game cleanly.

I vote for the 165gr Nosler partition, for a one bullet jack of all trades. The tip is soft enough to expand on smaller white tail, and the bullet is proven performer on elk.

What he said! I’ve used Sierra 150 gr pro hunters for many years. Accurate, cheap, no failures. Switching to Barnes to get the lead out. Great performance, reasonably accurate. Realize that Barnes (and other monolithics) are long for weight, so if you shoot 150 lead bullets well, go to 130 Barnes. Barnes seem to like a bit of jump to the lands, so longer bullets can reduce case capacity, which is especially important in a small case like .308. Good luck!

I'm currently in Eastern Montana where the coyotes are thick and the shots can get long.

I have shot an awful lotta stuff with sierra 150 pro-hunters and factory remington 150 core-lokt.
I have no idea what the hell I am doing.
So I just keep shooting. It all works out in the end.
